Learn that editing comes after revising
Recognize the importance of checking work carefully
“In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.”
— Proverbs 10:19 (WEB)Just as we carefully choose our words when speaking, we should carefully check our writing
Gather students in a circle and explain that today we'll learn about editing - checking our writing to make it the very best it can be!
Editing is like being a detective for your own writing. We look closely to find any mistakes and make our writing clear and beautiful.
Students will practice finding mistakes in a sample writing piece using a simple checklist
Simpler: Teacher helps identify mistakes
Challenge: Students write their own sample to edit
Remind students that editing helps us do our very best work for God
Dear Jesus, help us be careful and do our best in all we do.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn about checking for capital letters!
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,”
