Gather students in a circle and ask them to share what they had for breakfast. Explain that today we'll learn how families cooked meals long ago.
Long ago, families cooked very differently. They used open fires, didn't have refrigerators, and had to grow or hunt most of their own food. Moms and children worked together to prepare every meal.
