Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

BibleMouse Art Adventure: Today we'll explore how artists create depth in their drawings by making some things look closer and others farther away!

💭 Review Question: What did we learn about objects covering each other in our last lesson?
2Teaching (10 min)

Let's talk about how things look different when they're close or far away. Just like in our backyard, some things are near us, and some are far in the distance.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Objects closer to us look bigger
  • Objects farther away look smaller
  • Colors are brighter in the foreground
  • Colors look softer in the background
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What do you see in your backyard?
  • Can you point to something close and something far away?
3Activity: My Backyard Masterpiece (15 min)
project

Draw a backyard scene showing things close and far away

📝 Instructions:
  1. Start by drawing something big in the front of your paper
  2. Add medium-sized objects in the middle
  3. Draw small objects in the back of the paper
  4. Use lighter colors for far-away things
  5. Add details to make your drawing special
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw 3 objects of different sizes

Challenge: Add shadows to show depth

4Closing (5 min)

Share your BibleMouse artwork and talk about how you showed things near and far

📝 Review Questions:
  • What makes things look closer or farther away?
  • What was your favorite part of drawing today?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll be pattern detectives in God's wonderful creation!
