Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

In today's BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn how to make our very own weaving loom! Remember how we practiced weaving paper yesterday? Now we'll use cardboard to make something special.

💭 Review Question: What did we learn about weaving yesterday?
2Teaching (10 min)

Weaving is an ancient art where we create fabric by crossing threads over and under each other. Just like how God carefully weaves our lives together, we'll weave our own beautiful design.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Explain what a loom is
  • Demonstrate how to cut notches
  • Show how to string vertical yarn (warp)
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What kinds of things can people weave?
  • Have you ever seen someone weaving?
3Activity: Create Your Cardboard Loom (15 min)
hands-on

Students will create a simple cardboard loom and prepare it for weaving

📝 Instructions:
  1. Take your cardboard and measure 1/2 inch from top and bottom
  2. Make small cuts every 1/2 inch along top and bottom
  3. Stretch yarn vertically through notches to create warp
  4. Secure yarn ends with small pieces of tape
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Parent helps cut notches and string initial yarn

Challenge: Student measures and cuts notches independently

4Closing (5 min)

Let's review what we learned about creating a loom!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What is a loom?
  • How did we prepare our cardboard for weaving?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll start weaving colorful yarn on our new looms!
