Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Today's BibleMouse art lesson is about how we can use detail to make something special in our artwork!

💭 Review Question: What did we learn about making things stand out in our pictures yesterday?
2Teaching (10 min)

In art, we can use detail to help people look exactly where we want them to look. Just like in the Bible, where important messages get special attention, we can make one part of our picture extra special.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Some parts of a picture can be simple
  • Other parts can have lots of details
  • Details help draw your eye to the most important part
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What part of your picture do you want people to look at first?
  • How can we make that part extra interesting?
3Activity: Detailed Focal Point Drawing (15 min)
hands-on

Create a simple scene where one object has lots of details

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw a simple background with light, quick lines
  2. Choose one object to be your 'special' object
  3. Add lots of details to that object - lines, patterns, extra color
  4. Keep the rest of the picture simple
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw a simple flower and add extra details to its center

Challenge: Create a scene with multiple objects, but make one object much more detailed

4Closing (5 min)

Share your artwork and talk about where you added details

📝 Review Questions:
  • What made your special object stand out?
  • How did you use detail to draw attention?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll create an artwork about something important to you!
