Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse art adventure! Yesterday we learned about where our eyes first look in pictures. Today, we'll discover how size helps us know what's most important.

💭 Review Question: Can you remember what we called the most important part of a picture?
2Teaching (12 min)

In art, just like in God's world, size can tell us what matters most. When something is bigger, our eyes naturally look there first!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Larger things catch our attention quickly
  • Artists use size to show what's most important
  • We can make one thing 'special' by making it bigger
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What's the biggest thing in your bedroom?
  • How does a big sign help you notice something?
3Activity: Big and Small Art Adventure (14 min)
hands-on

Create a picture where one thing is much larger than everything else

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw one big object in the center of your paper
  2. Add smaller objects around the big object
  3. Color your picture, making the big object brightest
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw a big animal with tiny trees

Challenge: Create a scene with multiple size differences

4Closing (3 min)

Let's look at our artwork and talk about what makes our big object special!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What did you make big in your picture?
  • Why did you choose that object?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn how color can also make things stand out!
